Underwater photographer Brian Stevenson loves pools, oceans, rivers, showers, garden hoses, and buckets. As a kid, he inner tubed the irrigation ditch behind his parents' house nearly every summer day (so far, the only place he ever thought he was going to drown).
He started river guiding as an adult and became one of the most well traveled whitewater guides in the world. Brian led remote expeditions and first descents down the most challenging rivers on six continents and guided film projects for National Geographic Television, Turner Broadcasting, and others.
A lifelong student of photography, Brian took photographs while guiding. He shot everything- desert landscapes, hippos, Ethiopian tribes, his tribe of guide friends, whitewater, drunken sailors, Olympic athletes, grizzly bears, Maoist guerillas. His images were published in a lot of outdoor publications and soon Brian was shooting editorial and commercial assignments. He wrote articles for Outdoor Photographer and led photo expeditions and seminars from Alaska to Antarctica. It was hugely rewarding but Brian wanted to more fully blend his passions for water and photography.
Several years and a couple of flooded cameras ago Brian started shooting the underwater images which have become his specialty.
Brian and his production team create high quality work wherever there's clean water. They can hold their breath a long time (they usually only do this when they're underwater or seated right next to the bathroom on long flights). They like to have fun. They work hard. They're innovative, thoughtful, and professional. They're nice people. When you hire Brian you'll get the stunning underwater images you're looking for. Give him a call.
Brian does not live in New York but he knows how to get on an airplane.
